On 28th June I attended an English Heritage Event concerning the the impact which new planning legislation (National Planning Policy Framework) will have on the development and protection of listed and period property and the countryside. Unfortunately the general message which English Heritage seemed to be delivering - to an audience dominated by planners and conservation officers - was 'don't worry - you can keep saying 'no' to most things'. My hopes of real changes in attitude to adaptation and re-use of old buildings have been dashed!
